The Amberaid and Petit Raid are scenic trail races through the Amber Valley in Derbyshire, close to the eastern edge of the Peak District. Starting from Ashover, the 31 mile Amberaid follows a figure of eight route through the surrounding countryside, while the 20 mile Petit Raid takes runners around the northern loop of the course.
Runners encounter a varied and hilly route of countryside paths and trails, with punchy climbs, engaging descents, woodland sections and far reaching views across the Amber Valley. The course is largely unmarked, making navigation part of the challenge, with route notes and GPX files provided and additional markings used through some of the trickier sections.
Checkpoints provide water along the route, with food available at selected locations, while medical cover is provided on the course and at race headquarters. Both distances finish back at Ashover, where light refreshments await and every finisher receives a medal, with prizes awarded to the leading male and female runners in each race.
