A Galloping Good Adventure
This mud-filled event was designed for ponies and will now be conquered by athletes...
Calling all mud lovers, the Normanby Hall Adventure Race is back for 2022, and will take place on 27 March in the picturesque North Lincs country park.
A 10K(ish) obstacle race, runners will take on a horse cross country course which has much to offer those who want to embrace their inner pony with water, mud, sand, crawl nets and jumps! There are lots and lots of jumps in fact, as well as hills and a swamp! This event is not for the faint hearted.
In 2021 the event was held in May so mud was in short supply... but returning to a March date means there will be plenty of the glorious stuff. Runners won't be rewarded with a sugar cube or an apple, or even a rosette but they will recieve a cake and a medal and can choose whether they want to add a funky event t-shirt or hoodie.
Speaking as entries opened, a spokesperson from Curly's said: "The Adventure Run in 2021 was something special as for many it was the first 'event' back during the COVID era... for us it was so special to see people back, getting sweaty and enjoying themselves once again."
The event supports two particularly apt charities - Riding For The Disabled and Scunthorpe & District Pony Club Charity. Riding For The Disabled will be down on the day with some horsey friends while a donation from the running of the event goes to supporting the upkeep of the Pony Club's horse course.
