TrailFest introduces new format for the 2020 Solstice Trail Series

The popular Mugdock Park Solstice Trail Series returns in 2020 with a revised format that includes Saturday races and a 3-distance option introducing a beginner-friendly 5k level. Organisers will retain elements of the original series format, including evening start times to make the most of the light evenings, and different race routes across the series, so participants never run the same route twice.

The new races will feature a 5k, 10k and 15k race every month to create a challenge for all levels of trail runner while the new Saturday dates will help runners from further afield reach the start line on time.

Race organiser Ryan Scott told runABC Scotland: "Solstice events feature some of the best trail running to be found between Glasgow and The Trossachs. Expect forests, rocks, gravel, roots, moors, views, mud, more mud and great fun!"

The series venue is Mugdock Country Park, only 25 minutes from Glasgow, and the TrailFest team will be using the wider Park area to create race routes that are carefully designed to challenge and reward runners from beginners through to 'speed goats'.

Ryan Scott promises: "Our series is a celebration of trail running, so expect a warm welcome, a great race atmosphere and our awesome race marshals will be out on the course to keep you going."

He continued: “We are really looking forward to the 2020 Solstice Trail Series. We have developed the new format based on feedback from previous years and we have responded by providing more opportunities for beginners to race on trails in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

"That said, we have made sure that experienced and fast trailrunners are not left out. The courses have been carefully planned to ensure that everyone will need to work hard to get round and with three distance options each month it means there’s a course for everyone, from beginner to trail goat."

Entries are now open for the Solstice Trail Series 2020. More details at the Trailfest website.
