10K With Brigging Rights!
We look ahead to the end of the month and North Lincolnshire's Brigg Poppy 10K...
There’s still time to enter the Brigg Poppy 10K & Military Challenge which is scheduled to take place in the pretty North Lincolnshire market town on Sunday 31 October.
Back in 2018 entries were capped at 500 and in 2019 that increased to 750, but after a sellout situation with a massive waiting list the race organiser, Curly’s Athletes, is upping the ante with 1000 spaces guaranteed for 2021!
The scenic 10K offers great PB potential. North Lincs is well known for its flat terrain and so the course is certainly fast! Runners will also enjoy the closed country roads of the route and adding to the sense of occasion there will be a thrilling start and finish at Brigg Market Place.
If you fancy testing yourself a little more then the Military Challenge lets you do just that as competitors are required to wear boots and carry a backpack weighing 36lbs (16.3 kgs) for men and 24lbs (10.9 kgs) for women. No mean feat! Those signing up for the Challenge are required to raise a minimum of £75 for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
As the event supports the Royal British Legion there will be a two minute silence to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives serving our country. You can also expect a unique medal that celebrates the Poppy Appeal with organiser's proud to bring different designs each year.
