Such is the history of the Essar Chester Half Marathon organisers know they'll be welcoming their 100,000th runner across the line on Sunday 21 May this year. To celebrate, they will be showering their 100,000^th runner with some incredible prizes.

The 100,000^th runner will receive not one free place, not two free places, but three free places for the Active Leisure Events portfolio which includes MBNA Chester 10K, MBNA Chester Marathon and the Essar Chester Half. 

That's a free place for every race of their 2024 season and entrance into the 2024 Chester Triple 2024 and, perhaps more importantly, title sponsor Essar is also donating £1,000 to the charity of the 100,000^th runners’ choice!

You'll have the best race experience at the Essar Chester Half Marathon. It is a fantastically quick course with a breath-taking city centre finish, a finishers t-shirt, bespoke medal, and one of the most envied goody bags on the race circuit!

This year marks the 41^st edition of this award-winning race. In addition, it is also hosting the England Athletics Age Group Championships, a fantastic spectacle which is sure to create a formidable atmosphere. It's an incredibly well supported race and one of the longest running and best half marathons in the UK.
