Do The Y This Autumn
Is this your marathon year? Why not make it so in Yorkshire this October?
If you were left feeling inspired after watching the weekend's London Marathon coverage on TV then don't wait for the possibility of running in the capital next year... Yorkshire is calling your name this autumn!
Yes, you can get your marathon fix at this year’s Yorkshire Marathon Festival which will take place on Sunday 20 October and makes for the perfect destination event.
On the go since 2013, the marathon showcases the true beauty of the city of York and surrounding Yorkshire countryside all in one. Featuring an exceptionally flat and fast course, it is a great route for runners chasing a personal best or beginners starting on their running journey.
Starting and finishing at the University of York, the route takes participants past many of the city’s historic landmarks including York Minister, Clifford’s Tower and the City Walls. You’ll also run through many scenic villages with glorious views, such as Stamford Bridge, Stockton on the Forest and Dunnington.
And with epic crowd support, you’ll never be far from the locals who will be out in force to cheer you all the way to the finish line. Remember though, as you head along University Road to the finish, it’s tradition to 'do the Y' as you cross the line. Yorkshire, Yorkshire, Yorkshire!
Participants of all abilities are welcome to take part. Whether you are fundraising for a charity of choice, running with friends or looking to tick off another marathon challenge, it’s time to lace up your trainers and set yourself a new challenge for 2024.
