The Winter Wirral Ultra is a 36 mile trail event following a circular route around the Wirral Peninsula. Starting and finishing at Hooton Memorial Hall, the course follows the Wirral Circular Trail, takes in stretches of the peninsula coastline and joins the Wirral Way for the final 12 miles.
Runners and walkers take on a largely flat route with just over 800ft of elevation across the full 36 miles. The course combines trails and hard surfaces, with some self navigation required alongside existing signs and additional event waymarking. Five food and water stations support participants around the route, with a generous 12 hour cut off.
The Winter Wirral Ultra is suitable for experienced ultrarunners as well as those taking on their first ultra distance. GPS tracking allows progress to be followed around the course, while the low elevation, coastal scenery and varied terrain create an accessible long distance challenge around the Wirral Peninsula.
