The Whissendine 6ix is a long established 6 mile road race first held in 1985, organised from Whissendine Sports Club in the picturesque Rutland village of Whissendine. A popular fixture in the East Midlands running calendar, the race attracts club runners and recreational competitors alike with its friendly atmosphere and well organised summer evening event.
The accurately measured course follows a scenic loop on quiet country roads around Whissendine and the boundaries of the historic Stapleford Park estate. The undulating rural route provides an enjoyable challenge while showcasing the attractive countryside that makes the event a favourite with runners returning year after year.
With chip timing, a commemorative finisher's memento and the traditional bottle of Grainstore Brewery beer for every finisher, the Whissendine 6ix combines excellent organisation with a welcoming village atmosphere to deliver one of the region's best loved summer road races.
