Way Of The Dead Dartmoor Traverse
A challenging 50K ultra crossing Dartmoor from east to west on a self navigated route linking valleys, tors and remote moorland.

This point to point 50K event crosses Dartmoor from Trenchford Reservoir to Tavistock, following a varied and demanding route across open moorland, wooded valleys and historic landscape features. The course passes locations such as Lustleigh Cleave, Bowerman’s Nose, Hameldown Ridge, Grimspound and Postbridge before continuing into more remote, less marked terrain in the second half.
Runners take on a mix of terrain including trails, tracks and open moorland, with a significant section requiring self navigation. The route is supported with GPS tracking, marshalled checkpoints and feed stations, but still demands good route finding and hill running experience.
The event is run as a solo or paired challenge, with a 10 hour cut off and a steady climb profile across the crossing. It finishes in Tavistock after a long traverse of Dartmoor’s central and western moors.
