Virtual Spring Challenge for VE Day
Nice Work has launched their Virtual Spring 10K, 5K and 1K Challenge the VE Day Bank Holiday weekend (8-10 May). The event is open to families as well as individuals and there are prizes for winners.
Friday 8 May 2020 is the 75th anniversary of VE Day (‘Victory in Europe’ Day) and the end of the Second World War. In normal times this would be marked by celebrations up and down the country but these have been cancelled or postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
However, there are ways to commemorate this anniversary in accordance with government guidelines by taking part in virtual events such as the Spring 10K, 5K and 1K Challenge. Organised by Nice Work, the challenge has something to offer runners of all ages and abilities. There is an eye-catching bespoke medal for every finisher.
For runners missing their race fix, the results are compiled onto a leader board and prizes will be awarded for overall and age category winners. Equally, anyone looking to take part for fun can complete their chosen distance -10K, 5K or 1K – at a time and in a location to suit them but always adhering to official advice regarding social distancing and staying safe.
The three day challenge begins at 9am on Friday 8 May and ends midnight Sunday 10 May. Participants record their run via their GPS, Fitbit or smartphone app and take a selfie then submit this evidence. Medals will be posted out after the event.
