ULTRA:5K is a unique endurance running event held at Box End Park near Bedford, where competitors complete repeated 5K laps on the hour. Participants can choose from three formats: ULTRA:5K x3, ULTRA:5K x5 or ULTRA:5K x10, testing not only speed but also pacing, recovery and race strategy over several hours.
The mixed terrain course follows a clearly marked route of grass and trail with technical turns, short sharp climbs and fast runnable sections. Each 5K begins on the hour, giving runners recovery time between laps before starting again, with cumulative time across all laps determining the final results in each event.
Based at Box End Park, the event provides a dedicated runners' holding area with complimentary refreshments, nutrition and sports massage for competitors, while spectators can enjoy the lakeside setting and support throughout the day. Combining endurance, strategy and a welcoming community atmosphere, ULTRA:5K offers a distinctive challenge unlike a traditional single distance race.
