The Two Roses Ultra is a distinctive endurance event based in Hebden Bridge, giving runners the choice of tackling the Lancashire Red Rose 50K, the Yorkshire White Rose 50K or combining both routes into a demanding 100K ultra. Held around the summer solstice, the event takes advantage of the long daylight hours to showcase some of the finest trails across both counties.
The Lancashire route heads towards Burnley, passing through Worsthorne, Townley Park and Cliviger before climbing onto the high moorland terrain around Gaddings Dam and Stoodley Pike. The Yorkshire route explores a contrasting landscape, travelling towards Haworth and Bingley before returning through Cottingley Woods, Ogden Water and the surrounding moors.
With well stocked checkpoints, drop bag facilities and a generous 24 hour time limit for the 100K, the event caters for both experienced ultra runners and those stepping up to longer distances. The contrasting character of the two routes creates a memorable challenge that celebrates the landscapes of Lancashire and Yorkshire in a single event.
