The Turnhouse Hill Race is a traditional hill running event organised by Penicuik Harriers in the Pentland Hills Regional Park near Flotterstone.Â
The senior race covers 5.2K with approximately 310 metres of ascent, climbing to the summit of Turnhouse Hill before a fast and technical descent back to the finish. Although relatively short, the steep gradients make it a rewarding challenge for runners with hill running experience.
The course follows mainly tracked paths, with the final climb crossing heather-covered hillside before reaching the summit. Alongside the senior event, there is a junior 2.2K race with around 160 metres of ascent, providing a shorter challenge for younger runners. With its scenic setting, demanding terrain and welcoming atmosphere, the Turnhouse Hill Race is a popular fixture in the Scottish hill racing calendar.
