The Turnhouse Hill Race is a traditional hill race held in the Pentland Hills Regional Park near Edinburgh. Starting close to Flotterstone, the senior race covers 5.2K with 310 metres of ascent, taking runners from the glen floor to the summit of Turnhouse Hill before returning to the finish.
Although relatively short in distance, the route features steep climbing and descending, providing a demanding challenge for runners with hill running experience. The course follows mainly tracked terrain, with the final ascent to the summit crossing open hillside.
Alongside the senior race, a junior hill race offers a shorter challenge on the slopes of Turnhouse Hill. Set within the Pentland Hills Regional Park, the event combines steep terrain, panoramic hilltop views and classic Scottish hill running, making it a popular fixture in the local hill racing calendar.
