The Trafford Trails 5 is organised by Dragons Running Club and takes place from Trafford MV Rugby Club in Sale, Greater Manchester. First held in 2017, the event welcomes club and non club runners while raising funds for local charities and community organisations.
The approximately 5 Mile route follows the banks of the River Mersey, passing through the woodland at Kickety Brook and Stretford Meadow before returning along the opposite riverbank. The course is almost entirely off road, combining hard packed trails, riverside paths and a short tarmac section, with a largely flat profile and only a handful of short climbs.
Chip timing, marshals and well organised race day support help deliver an enjoyable evening event. Refreshments are available after the race at Trafford MV Rugby Club, while all finishers receive a unique race memento and a friendly atmosphere makes the Trafford Trails 5 a popular fixture on the local trail running calendar.
