Tower To Castle Ultra

Tower to Castle Ultra is a 30 mile ultramarathon connecting two Lancashire landmarks, beginning beside Blackpool Tower and finishing at Lancaster Castle. The predominantly trail route follows the coast north, taking runners through a mixture of coastal paths and urban sections on the journey towards Lancaster.

Runners follow a fully marked route from Blackpool through the Fylde Coast towards Fleetwood, where the course includes an unusual ferry crossing across the Wyre Estuary to Knott End. From there, the journey continues north towards Lancaster, with three checkpoints providing water, drinks and snacks along the course.

Participants are released in staggered groups based on their expected pace to coordinate the ferry crossing, with an eight hour overall completion limit. Mandatory safety kit is required, while runners are supported by regular checkpoints, chip timing and aid stations before finishing beneath the historic setting of Lancaster Castle.
