Tour of Pendle Fell Race is a demanding long distance fell running event held around Pendle Hill and its surrounding moorlands in Lancashire. Now in its 42nd edition, this established late season race starts near Barley Village Hall and takes runners across the South West Pennines.
The 27K course includes approximately 1,473 metres of climbing and follows a figure of eight route around Pendle Hill. Runners face fast descents and increasingly steep ascents, culminating in the notorious Big End. Classified as an AL fell race, the event requires strong fitness, navigation skills and previous fell running experience, particularly in challenging November weather.
The race is held under Fell Runners Association rules, with mandatory safety equipment and checkpoint cut offs in place. GPS navigation is prohibited, and participants must carry waterproof clothing, a map, compass, whistle and emergency food. Tour of Pendle remains a popular end of season challenge for experienced fell runners.
