Runner in the woodland at the Thoresby Leaf Kick

Getting a kick out of Thoresby's leafy trails

Perfect day for runners and walkers at this annual multi-distance event.

Two and four legged participants had a grand run out at the Thoresby Leaf Kick (Sunday 16 October) as they took full advantage of the course, the support and the weather. What better way to spend an autumn day than running or walking your preferred distance and being rewarded with a multi-coloured leafy medal.

An event with something for everyone irrespective of age, ability or experience, the Thoresby Leaf Kick was a success from start to finish. It was organised by SBR Events who are known for their attention to detail (ably demonstrated during the pandemic) and commitment to providing a memorable experience. This event ticked all the boxes.

As is the case with SBR Events, there was a choice of distances to suit the short course specialist and endurance runner alike. 5K, 10K, 10 Miles and Half Marathon and new for this year, a 30K and Marathon and these were open to man’s best friend too. Canicross is growing in popularity and was well catered for on Sunday with plenty of space and water for the dogs.

Ramblers, Nordic Walkers and dog walkers were equally welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the grounds of Thoresby Park, making their way on grassy paths, tracks and old military roads in this Nottinghamshire estate. There were a few hills along the way but nothing major and the views were superb! The woodland was in all its glory at this time of year and was further enhanced by the fine weather.

Results for the 5K, 10K, 10 Miles, Half Marathon, 30K and Marathon can be viewed via the runABC Midlands Race Listings page.

There were trophies for winners and the top three men and women; bespoke medal for every finisher and free photos from Mick Hall Photos.

Fans of the Thoresby Leaf Kick have the opportunity to return to this scenic venue in April 2023 for the organisers' favourite - The Longhorn. Visit the SBR Events website for more details and Early Bird prices.
