The Stickler is a challenging 10.1 mile multi terrain race through the Dorset countryside, featuring more than 1,500ft of climbing. Known as the Dorset Three Peaks, the route ascends Okeford Beacon, Hod Hill and Hambledon Hill while taking runners through the scenic Stour Valley.
The race begins with the steep Stickle Path before continuing across a predominantly off road course of gravel tracks and grass, with some sections of tarmac. Runners face three significant climbs along with plenty of varied terrain between the peaks. Three drink stations are positioned around the route at approximately 1.75, 5 and 7.25 miles, with additional water available at the finish.
Organised by the Dorset Doddlers, The Stickler starts on Lanchards Lane and finishes on the platform at Shillingstone Station. Race HQ is at Shillingstone Church Centre, a short walk from the start, and the event is cupless, so runners need to bring their own cup or suitable drinking container for the water stations.
