Pumpkin Plod takes place at Ferry Meadows, one of the largest country parks in the region, located just a few miles from Peterborough city centre in the heart of Nene Park.
The event offers a six-hour format starting at 9 am or a four-hour option starting at 11 am, allowing you to run as far as you can within the time limit. As long as you leave base camp before 5:59:59, you can head out for one final lap. The course is a 5.3K multi-terrain loop on gravel paths and grass, and you can run as much or as little as you like, with the option to rest between laps.
A standard heavy half marathon is five laps, with the option to increase to six or seven, while a standard ultra marathon is nine laps, extendable up to twelve depending on time. The event is suitable for all levels, whether you are aiming for your first 5K, 10K, half marathon, full marathon, or ultra marathon, or looking to go further in a straightforward and well-supported setting.
Parking is chargeable at the park. From the car park, toilets, and payment machines, the start area will be clearly visible. The event is based at the Lakeside Centre on the watersports side of the park, where you will collect your bib number at registration. The race headquarters and base camp are located at the start and lap point, where a water and aid station will be available.
The terrain consists of country park footpaths and grassy sections. Road trainers are generally suitable, although trail shoes may be useful depending on conditions.
All finishers will receive a bespoke medal, unless the finisher medal option has been selected. Please note that this is a cupless event, so bring your own bottles or cups for refilling.
