The Descent 2 is a point to point 10K road race in West Yorkshire, taking runners from Baitings Reservoir high above Calderdale down to the finish in Sowerby Bridge. Built around a simple concept of starting high and finishing low, the race offers a fast and unusual challenge with gravity firmly on your side.
The fully road based course descends from around 975 feet to 252 feet above sea level, delivering more than 700 feet of net downhill running. Quiet upland roads, sweeping descents and open countryside views combine to create a fast flowing route that appeals to runners chasing a quick 10K as well as those looking for something different from a traditional road race.
Participants register at Sowerby Bridge before being transported to the start at Baitings Reservoir. The combination of point to point racing, significant descent and scenic Calderdale landscapes makes The Descent 2 one of the most distinctive 10K events in the Yorkshire running calendar.
