The Copthorne Races are a series of challenging ultramarathons organised by Canary Trail Events in the Surrey Hills. Starting from Mickleham Village Hall, the event features four distances ranging from 50K to 100 miles, taking participants through woodland, heathland and the steep hills surrounding Box Hill, Headley and Mickleham.
Each race follows repeated loops of approximately 10.3 miles, with around 2,260 feet of ascent per lap. The demanding trail course includes Mickleham Downs, Headley Heath, the North Downs Way and the famous Box Hill steps, with steep descents and relentless climbs throughout. Fully marked routes and generous elevation make these Surrey ultramarathons a serious endurance challenge for experienced trail runners.
Race headquarters are at Mickleham Village Hall, where runners have access to refreshments, hot drinks and drop bags between laps. Additional water is available at Box Hill Village Hall, with medical cover and marshals supporting participants throughout the event. Mandatory equipment and distance specific cutoffs apply, with longer races continuing through the night.
