The Tavy 7 is a long established 7 mile race on the western edge of Dartmoor, starting and finishing at Plaster Down. The scenic route passes Pew Tor and the hamlet of Sampford Spiney, showcasing the open landscapes and rural surroundings of this part of Dartmoor.
Runners tackle an undulating course predominantly on narrow tarmac country roads, with the start and finish taking place on grass. The measured route features mile markers and two water stations, while every finisher receives a medal.
Organised by Tavistock Athletic Club, the event also hosts the Ross Shield, Devon's oldest running championship for eligible Devon clubs. A junior fun run of approximately one mile takes place while the main race is underway, giving younger runners aged six and over their own event alongside the Tavy 7.
