Entries open for autumnal Thoresby Leaf Kick
A new name for an old Nottinghamshire favourite
Nothing beats a run along beautiful autumn trails and where better to do so than the Thoresby Leaf Kick on Sunday 17 October. Previously known as Thoresby 10, this award-winning event has been renamed for 2021 and there is a bonus team race along with the individual efforts.
Organised by SBR Events and held at Thoresby Park, the venue for The Longhorn (18 April), the race offers the opportunity to run or walk around this country estate in North Nottinghamshire. The Kick is run on the Longhorn course but in reverse.
There is a 5K, 10K, 10 Miles and Half Marathon and all of these are also open to Canicross entrants. Nordic Walkers are equally welcome in this inclusive event with Covid measures in place to ensure everyone has a safe as well as enjoyable day out.
The route is one of several highlights as it winds its way around the grounds, on a mix of grassed paths, tracks, woodland and military roads. The forest forms an attractive backdrop – even more so in the autumn and participants are treated to the sight of the Longhorn cattle on their travels.
Trophies, prizes and certificates are up for grabs and there is a bespoke race medal for every finisher.
A much needed taste of normality in the form of hot food and drinks available to purchase in the race village; free post-race massage depending upon Covid regulations and free race photographs to download and share.
