The Silksworth 5K is organised by Sunderland Harriers & AC and takes place at Silksworth Sports Complex in Sunderland. The event features a fast 5K road race alongside a junior 2.5K race, attracting club runners, masters athletes and those targeting quick times on one of the region's fastest courses.

The evening programme includes separate starts for the junior race, senior and veteran women's race, veteran men's race and senior and veteran men's race. The 5K incorporates the Northern Athletics and North East Masters Individual and Team Road Championships, bringing together strong competitive fields while remaining open to runners of all abilities aged 14 and over.

Held under UK Athletics rules, the event features chip timing, bespoke finisher's medals, goody bags and prizes across a range of categories, including cash bonuses for breaking the long standing course records. Combining a proven fast course with championship competition, the Silksworth 5K is a highlight of the North East summer road racing calendar.
