The Summer Ready Run returns to Ferry Meadows, one of the largest country parks in the region. Located less than three miles from Peterborough city centre, in the heart of Nene Park, its varied landscapes make it a popular destination for visitors throughout the year.

This flexible event offers either a six-hour format starting at 9 am or a four-hour format starting at 11 am. Participants can run as far as they wish within the time available, with the opportunity to begin one final lap as long as they leave base camp before 5:59:59. The course is a 5.3K loop through the forest, featuring gravel footpaths and sections of grass, creating a varied multi-terrain route.

You can run as much or as little as you like, taking breaks between laps if needed. A standard “heavy half marathon” consists of five laps, with the option to increase this to six or seven on the day. A standard ultra marathon is nine laps, with the flexibility to extend this up to twelve laps depending on your time and ability.

Whether you are completing your first official 5K, 10K, half marathon, full marathon, or ultra marathon, or adding to an already impressive total, this event caters to all levels. It is particularly suited to those looking to achieve a marathon distance or go beyond, without the complexity of traditional trail ultras. The course requires minimal navigation, no specialist kit, and includes an aid station at every lap, making logistics simple and accessible.

Parking at Ferry Meadows is chargeable. From the car park, toilets, and payment machines, the start arch and gazebos will be visible. After parking, head towards the main toilet block, where you will find the race arch and registration area nearby. Follow the signage to registration to collect your bib number.

The race headquarters and base camp are located at the start and lap point, where the water and aid station will be set up. The terrain consists of country park footpaths and grassy sections, so road trainers are generally suitable, although trail shoes may be beneficial depending on recent weather conditions.

All finishers will receive a bespoke medal, unless the finisher medal option has been selected, in which case a non-event-specific medal will be provided. Virtual places are also available for those who would like to complete the challenge remotely and still receive a medal, which can be purchased through the Zig Zag Running website.

This is a cupless event, so all participants should bring their own bottles or cups for refilling. The event supports a range of challenge distances, including 5K, 10K, half marathon, full marathon, and ultra marathon.
