Go for gold again at the Dorstone Dawdle
Beautiful scenery and big hills at this ‘must do’ summer race.
Be quick off the mark for the Dorstone Dawdle which is back on Sunday 3 July with a delightful run through Herefordshire’s ‘Golden Valley’. Expect climbs, downhills and stunning views at a friendly 10K in a quintessentially English village.
One of Runner’s World top summer races, the Dorstone Dawdle came to a halt in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the pandemic, joining the list of cancelled races during that turbulent period. However, it is ready to roll again in 2022 along with a 4K Fun Run promising a memorable day in an idyllic setting and, with any luck, it will be accompanied by warm, sunny weather.
This year is the 10th anniversary of this multi-terrain 10K that starts at 11am from Dorstone village green and continues on a circuit that goes through the ‘Golden Valley’ in the south east of Herefordshire. The course consists of country lanes, bridleways, forest tracks and open hills – the latter totalling 274m of ascent. But what goes up has to come down and there is a long and fast descent which joins a road at the bottom then along the lanes back to Dorstone with cheering spectators at the finish.
There are prizes for the first male, first female and first club with refreshments provided at the presentation on the playing fields. All profits from the event will be donated to local charities.
