Race The Train Runner

Get On Track For This September Trail Race

Race the Train is back for 2022 and it is full steam ahead...

September 25 will see one of Scotland's most unique races make its return with Disability Snowsport UK asking if you are ready to Race The Train! The charity's 7.5K trail run will see runners race to the finish against the Strathspey Railway steam train and promises to be a challenging but extremely fun day out!

Runners will set off from Boat of Garten and head along the Speyside Way to Aviemore, covering a scenic and typically Highland course. Much of the race (especially the second half) runs by the railway track, with organisers saying: "Hearing the train coming will inspire you to stoke your engine and sprint for the finish line."

Whether you have been a runner your whole life or you are just starting out, taking part in Race the Train is a fantastic opportunity to test your progress while competing not only with your fellow runners, but also against the traditional Highland steam train. And the event's uniqueness and spectacular setting also makes it a wonderful day out for spectators too.

Speaking about the event, a spokesperson from Disability Snowsport UK said: "We have set a small fundraising target for everyone taking part in the 2022 Race The Train, those who reach this will be put in a prize draw to win some great prizes. You can of course still race, even if you do not raise any money. After over two years of limited fundraising due to COVID, DSUK urgently needs more fundraising in 2022."
