The Grinch 5K

Will You Run From The Grinch?

There's still time to run in this weekend's Grinch 5K on Merseyside...

N.B. MOVED FROM 11th DECEMBER TO 18TH DECEMBER DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS AROUND ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS. ALL OTHER DETAILS REMAIN THE SAME. NEW ENTRIES NOW PERMITTED.

After the success of last year's inaugural staging, BTR Liverpool's The Grinch 5K will return for 2022. In 2021, the event was enjoyed by loads of runners who were keen to enjoy the festivities of the day, rather than sabotage them in the way the race's namesake may have wished!

This year the race will be taking place on 11 December, but there is still time to grab yourself a spot and join in the Christmas-themed fun in Merseyside!

The route will be slightly different to last year's race due to the ongoing sea wall development work along the promenade at West Kirby so Sunday's 5K will take place on the promenade at Hoylake close to the RNLI lifeboat station at Hoyle Road.

The course will follow a path around the lake to Macdonna Drive and then loop around to come back on itself via Sandy Lane and the Wirral Way. Runners will then continue along the promenade to finish back at the beach start point.

In keeping with the theme of the race, everyone will be asked to dress for the occasion and wear something suitably green and we are told there will be 'no exceptions' to this rule - there were certainly plenty of runners adhering to the rules in 2021 as the image above shows!

Everyone completing the 5K run will receive a special Grinch medal and chocolate treats, so all in all, this race provides runners with plenty reasons to be as happy as the people of Whoville rather than their mean-tempered neighbour.

If you'd like to grab yourself a spot then head over to the entry site here.
