The Stevenage Half Marathon is a long established road race that has been part of the town's running calendar since 1984. Starting and finishing at Hampson Park, the two lap route follows cycle paths through Stevenage, including Fairlands Valley Park and other points of interest around the town.
Runners take on an officially measured 13.1 mile course that is chip timed and held under UK Athletics rules. The entirely road and cycle path based route avoids muddy terrain and is signposted and marshalled throughout, with regular water stations along the course.
The event is organised as a charity fundraiser with support from Fairlands Valley Spartans Running Club and Stevenage Scouts, with proceeds supporting local and nominated charities. All runners completing the Half Marathon receive a finisher's memento.
