Prepare for lift-off at Space Oddity, a David Bowie-inspired running event set in the beautiful surroundings of Hurn Forest in Dorset. Organised by Long Player Running, this music-themed challenge welcomes runners of all abilities, from beginners tackling their first 5K to experienced endurance athletes aiming for marathon or ultra-marathon distances. With the freedom to choose how far to run, participants can set their own goals while enjoying a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

The event follows an out-and-back route along the main forest track, with each lap measuring approximately 5.3K. Runners can complete as many laps as they wish within the seven-hour time limit, exploring peaceful woodland surroundings on well-maintained, hardstanding trails. With flexible start times and the option to take breaks between laps, the format allows participants to tackle the challenge at their own pace.

Adding to the fun, the event embraces its David Bowie and space-inspired theme, with music, themed refreshments and fancy dress encouraged. A well-stocked aid station provides sweet and savoury treats at the end of each lap, while finishers receive a themed medal to celebrate their achievement. Whether aiming for a new distance milestone or simply enjoying a memorable day on the trails, Space Oddity promises a running experience that's a little out of this world.
