Soyland Moor is a 13.5 mile fell race from the Hinchliffe Arms in Cragg Vale, taking runners across the rugged moorland of Calderdale. The route visits Stoodley Pike, follows sections of the Pennine Way and reaches Great Manshead Hill before returning to Cragg Vale.
Runners face around 1,300ft of ascent, beginning with a steep tarmac climb before reaching boggy pasture and open moorland. Competitors must visit each checkpoint in the correct order and follow the mapped route, with only the start and finish flagged, making navigation an important part of the challenge.
The race is held under UK Athletics rules and is licensed with the Fell Runners Association and Trail Running Association. Full FRA kit is required, including waterproofs, hat and gloves, a paper map, compass, whistle, spare layer, food and water.
