Something For The Weekend

We have already previewed the action at the Devilla Forest this weekend, but what about the other big races across the country? runABC Scotland preview the highlights of the weekend ahead.

The Glasgow University 5 Mile Road Race (Saturday 17 February) is a long-running and popular race on the outskirts of the City of Glasgow. The race starts and finishes in Garscube Sports Complex, following a two-lap course around quiet roads and paths. A mix of fast flat sections with the odd undulation thrown in makes this a testing and popular course.

The inagural Stonehaven Running Club Fetteresso Forest Marathon takes place on Sunday 18 February. 26.1 miles of forest track awaits and the steep course is sure to test runners to their maximum.

Runners are advised they must carry Scottish Hill Running minimum kit (waterproof full body cover, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle). There will be a no kit, no run policy and organisers will conduct a kit check. Further information can be found here.

Our final featured race is Sunday’s (18 February) Kinloss to Lossiemouth Half Marathon. This beautiful point to point route between the two RAF bases in the area takes runners along quiet country roads. Last year’s race was won by Aberdeen AAC’s Will Mackay in a time of 1:08:07.

Be sure to check out our Race Listing Section on Sunday evening for all of the weekend's race results.
