The Smalley 5 Bells is organised by Smalley Road Runners and takes place in the Derbyshire village of Smalley. Named after the five bells of St John the Baptist Church, the event celebrates the village's heritage while bringing runners together for a welcoming and well organised summer trail race.
The 5 mile multi terrain course explores the countryside surrounding Smalley, Mapperley and Shipley Country Park. Runners follow a varied route on woodland trails, bridleways and rural paths, creating an enjoyable challenge with changing scenery and a mixture of natural surfaces throughout.
The race is fully marshalled and timed, with water stations on the course and at the finish. Every finisher receives a commemorative medal and event T shirt, while the race village offers refreshments, bag drop, first aid and family activities. A colourful 1 mile fun run also forms part of the event, adding to the friendly community atmosphere.
