Friday Night In Skellingthorpe
This 10K trail race has a lot to offer including chocolate, beer and an impressive medal for all finishers...
The Skelly Trail 10K returns on 15 May this year in Skellingthorpe, offering runners a mixed terrain evening race. Starting and finishing at the Skellingthorpe Pavilion, the course takes in a varied route across paths, woodland, farmland and local trails.
Organised by Lincoln and District Runners, the event attracts competitors from clubs across Lincolnshire alongside unaffiliated runners, with prizes planned for category winners and all finishers receiving medals and goody bags that include chocolate and a bottle of locally brewed beer.
Race organisers have revealed a distinctive 2026 finisher’s medal inspired by the area’s aviation heritage. Crafted from wood and featuring the Avro Lancaster, the design pays tribute to nearby RAF Skellingthorpe, wartime home to the 50 and 61 Squadrons. In a novel twist, the medal doubles as a coaster, giving runners a practical memento to accompany their finish line refreshment provided by Pheasantry Brewery.
Organisers told us: "Interest in the 2026 race is already strong, with half the available places filled and 150 entries remaining for our popular Friday evening event!"
In 2025, Martin Troop of Lincoln Wellington AC claimed the men’s title in 35:06, while clubmate Charlie Thornton won the women’s race in 37:27, finishing sixth overall in a highly competitive field.
