Make Plans For A 2025 Marathon
Will you Run for Rob (and yourself) at this fantastic springtime marathon?
From charity runners to inspiring athletes, participants of all abilities and ages are encouraged to Run For Rob at the 2025 Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon.
Set to take place in the early spring, on Sunday 11 May, 2025, the marathon is a day to come together to celebrate and honour the late Rob Burrow CBE. The former Leeds Rhinos player, who lived with motor neurone disease since being diagnosed in late 2019, died earlier this year, aged 41.
Since the very first Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon in 2022, over 16,000 participants have come together and taken part in the 26.2-mile route. Each with their own reason for running, but with one common goal, to Run For Rob.
Now a firmly established sporting and fundraising date in the Leeds calendar, no matter your ability or age you are invited to lace up your trainers and take part in an empowering tribute to the late sportsman. A spokesperson from Run For All says: "Whether you are an experienced runner or have never thought about doing a marathon before, it really doesn’t matter, just be assured that every step you take will bring so much more hope to those battling with MND. You’ll be running for a reason, for Rob and for the wider MND community."
Following on from previous years, those taking part are encouraged to fundraise for their own charity of choice or one of the event’s partner charities; the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal, the MND Association, Candlelighters, Leeds North and West Foundation, the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, St Gemma’s Hospice and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
A fitting tribute to the city that launched Rob’s career and which he called home, the marathon will again start and finish at the iconic AMT Headingley Stadium. The hilly 26.2 mile route explores the very best of the city, from the buzzy suburb of Headingley to the market town of Otley and back, runners will make their way through some of Leeds' most diverse suburbs and scenic outer countryside.
Going into its third year, the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon is now proudly known for its incredible crowd support who line the entire route. From spectators, volunteer groups, schools and local entertainment, community groups of all variations and sizes are expected to line the streets in a carnival celebration of colour, excitement and anticipation.
It’s time to take that leap and sign up to the 2025 Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon. Remember, it’s more than just a marathon, it’s a day filled with emotion, pride and unity.
