Less than four weeks until the Shrewsbury Half Marathon
There is still time to sign up for this scenic, hilly race.
The Greenhous West Mid Showground is the start and finish for the Shrewsbury Half Marathon, back in town on Sunday 10 October. Runners will take to the streets and the countryside for 13.1 undulating miles that includes the famous (or infamous!) Wyle Cop.
Organised by UKRunChat, this popular half marathon is known for its varied and delightful route which is a combination of urban and rural: passing through this medieval town and 600 listed buildings before heading out into the Shropshire countryside. If you like hills then this is the event for you as there are more than a few to test the legs! The daddy of them all is Wyle Cop – a long climb that features in the first part of the race with crowds cheering you up those last few metres.
Then it's around the town with plenty of support before a switch to country roads and attractive views for the second part of the race. The course is a mix of ups and downs with a turn off back to the showground and the finish.
A team of pacers will help participants achieve their target time or PB and there are two tail runners to accompany those at the rear of the field.
Once in the finishing funnel, marshals will present runners with their technical t-shirt, bespoke medal, water and a goody bag. There are free photos to download and a free post-race massage – just what sore legs need after tackling Wyle Cop (and other hills).
The 2021 Shrewsbury Half Marathon starts at 9am. There are places available so enter now and join in the fun. Sign up now at the UKRunChat website.
