Shrewsbury Half Marathon & Metric Half Marathon

The Shrewsbury Half Marathon and Metric Half Marathon are scenic road races starting and finishing at The West Mid Showground. Both routes explore the heart of Shrewsbury, giving runners the opportunity to experience the historic Shropshire town and many of its best known landmarks on closed and managed roads.

Runners pass through areas including Kingsland, Porthill, Coleham, The Quarry and Frankwell, with sections alongside the River Severn and crossings of the Welsh and English Bridges. The traditional Half Marathon covers 13.1 miles, while the Metric Half Marathon provides a shorter 13.1K challenge for runners looking to progress beyond 10K without taking on the full half marathon distance.

Both races are chip timed on measured routes and are held under UK Athletics licensing, with pacers available to help runners work towards their target times. Finishers receive a bespoke medal, race treats and free official race photography, with the town centre setting and riverside sections providing a distinctive backdrop throughout the event.
