The Shrewsbury 5K is a graded road running event held at the cycle circuit within Shrewsbury Sports Village. Open to runners aged 11 and over, the event features multiple races based on predicted finishing times, creating competitive fields and excellent opportunities for fast performances across all standards.

The flat, sheltered and traffic free course covers just over five laps of the well maintained cycle circuit, providing ideal conditions for personal bests. The programme includes open graded races alongside England v Wales Masters International races, with runners allocated to the appropriate start based on their expected finish time. Cash prizes are awarded to the leading male and female finishers.

Held under UK Athletics rules, the event benefits from professional organisation and a purpose built venue designed for fast running. Combining accurate grading, a smooth traffic free circuit and competitive racing throughout the afternoon, the Shrewsbury 5K has become a popular fixture for runners targeting a quick 5K.
