York's Final Farewell

Farewell Challenge to provide fitting send off for much-loved running events...

Runners are being invited to take part in a final farewell event as race organiser, See York Run York, prepares to bow out this April. Their last ever event - Farewell See York Run York Challenge, will take place on 18 April on York Knavesmire, marking the end of an era for the team.

The event will follow See York Run York's Turpin Challenge format, giving participants up to seven hours to complete as many laps as they choose of a 4.37 mile course. Whether runners opt for a single lap or push on towards half marathon, marathon or ultra distances, all finishers will receive a bespoke medal and goody bag.

Race HQ will be based at Hamilton Panthers Clubhouse, offering facilities including toilets, changing, showers and refreshments, with food and hot drinks available before and after the run. A family friendly one mile fun run will also take place ahead of the main event, allowing younger runners and their supporters to be part of the day.

The flexible format has long made the event a favourite among runners of all abilities, offering the chance to run at their own pace, socialise with others and enjoy a supportive atmosphere on the Knavesmire course.

The decision to bring See York Run York to a close is due to ongoing health challenges faced by the founder with the physical demands of organising events making it increasingly difficult to continue. The farewell event will provide an opportunity for the running community to come together one last time to celebrate the spirit of See York Run York, which has built a reputation for inclusive and friendly events.
