Sea to Summit Ben Nevis is a 28 mile mountain ultramarathon travelling from the west coast of Scotland to the summit of Ben Nevis and onward to the finish at Nevis Range. The route gains more than 5,400ft of elevation as it crosses remote Highland terrain and reaches the highest mountain in the UK.
The course takes runners and trekkers through woodland, moorland and rugged mountain terrain, with rocky, boggy and exposed sections possible underfoot. The route is fully waymarked with Rat Race arrows and signage, allowing participants to focus on the demanding climbs and varied terrain without having to navigate independently.
Pit stops provide support around the course, alongside professional mountain safety and medical teams. Participants carry mandatory kit and are issued GPS trackers, with course cut offs requiring an average pace of around three miles per hour. The challenge can be completed on its own or as part of Rat Race's Sea to Summit trilogy.
