Rye Harbour Summer Series route

Flat And Fast Friday Fun

Rye Summer 10K and 5K Series is right on Point...

The Point is the main entrance to Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest managed by Sussex Wildlife Trust, where you will find a large car park and toilets near the Martello Tower. An exceptional expanse of coastal wetlands, the size of 600 football pitches, is ready to be explored, and there's no better way to do that than in Nice Work's superb Rye Summer Series races.

The land is flat, having been formed from the shingle beaches deposited by the forces of the sea over 800 years. The area is accessed via concrete roads that serve military buildings, once constructed to defend the flatlands from invaders. These concrete roads provide the perfect surface for running races.

This year's Rye Summer Series begins on Friday, 6 June. The Series provides a unique chance to enjoy one of Britain's most treasured conservation sites, with a mosaic of interlocking shingle ridges, salt marsh, intertidal grazing, reed beds and saline lagoons.

The Rye Summer Series comprises four events on the first Friday in June, July, August and September. You can enter each race individually or save money and purchase a series entry.

It can get windy on the reserve, but if conditions are favourable fast times are possible. These races enjoy an incredible race day vibe and are ideal for beginners and experienced runners. Now boasting an additional race in the series, and a choice of race distance across all but the September race edition, this will be the summer racing series you aim for every year.

Rye Summer Series advance entries for the 10K (three races) or 5K (four races) are available until Thursday, and the discounted fees include a race t-shirt. Series entries may also be available on the day. Visit the Nice Work events website for full details.

Individual race entries can also be made and there is a direct link on runABC South here.
