Ready To Fly High At Eye
Expect some speedy performances at this fast, semi-rural 10K in Peterborough
This weekend runners will set their sights on the Eye 10K (Sunday 14 May) and the prizes on offer along with the chance to bag a PB. This won’t be the only thing to catch their attention...
There’ll be a flypast by a spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to add to the spectacle at Sunday’s event where participants of all ages will put their best foot forward in the 10K and 3K Family Fun Run and will be rewarded with a bottle of beer (10K) or a medal (3K).
Both races are organised by Eye Community Runners with the 10K also part of the Cambridgeshire AA Road League. It’s one of 8 fixtures where scores from each of the races count towards individual and club honours so competition will be fierce on Sunday.
The Eye 10K and 3K Family Fun Run start and finish at Eye Primary School. The Fun Run begins at 10:15am and involves running one lap of Eye Village: this is followed by the 10K at 11am on a marked and marshalled circular course which includes the Green Wheel Cycle route – a network of sustainable cycle paths around Peterborough.
The prize list includes the top three men and women; the male vet winner in all the age groups; the female vet winner in all the age groups; the winning male team and the winning female team. 3K Family Fun Run finishers receive a medal and 10K finishers a commemorative bottle of Coronation ‘Joggers Tipple’ beer. Cheers!
Note: online entries have closed; however, there will be entries available on the day at 9am in the school hall.
