Runners At Cannock Chase

Run wild in the country at Forestry 10K Series

Runners are invited to mark 100 years of the Forestry Commission by taking part in a series of 10ks across the country. Complete one 10k or 100k on beautiful forest trails at this unique event.

The Forestry Commission is 100 this year and as part of its centenary celebrations is hosting a 10K Running Series to encourage people to continue with their New Year fitness resolutions. Here is an opportunity to explore some of the best forest trails the UK has to offer in the company of others.

This new series is organised in partnership with Nice Work who have 30 years experience in race management that includes trail events such as this. Beginning at the end of March, the 10ks will take place at 16 forest sites including six in the Midlands. They are Cannock Chase Forest, Wyre Forest, Sherwood Pines, Forest of Dean, Westonbirt Arboretum and Salcey Forest.

The first of our Midlands forest 10ks is on Saturday 25 May at Cannock Chase starting at 9am.

Enter any individual 10k or have a go for the Forestry 100 challenge and run 100km via 10 races of your choosing. Every 10k race is different: there are flat, gravel tracks, fast downhill sections, rolling switchbacks, hard stone paths and hills – short and steep or long and gradual. But what they all have in common is glorious views of the countryside.

There are prizes for the leading men and women in the series, an exclusive technical T-shirt for the Forestry 100 challengers and a bespoke wooden medal for all finishers.
