Roy Castle Retro Run Series medals

Choose your decade/s to support a great cause

Roy Castle Retro Running Series takes us back in time

Sometimes it helps to reminisce during stressful times. Looking back it often seems that life was better. Perhaps it was a lot less complicated, easier, freer. Perhaps it's just that we were younger then!

Do you have a favourite decade for music, culture, and fashion? Wouldn't it be great if you could combine your love of running with the music that evokes memories from your favoured era while using modern technology to record your efforts and raising funds for a great cause?

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation has done exactly that with their Retro Running Series that combines the technological power of a Strava run club with bespoke Spotify playlists for each decade from the Swinging '60s through to the totally cool '00s.

The Roy Castle Retro Running Series enables you to earn up to five amazing retro medals – complete all five themed virtual runs and you will receive a bonus Ultimate Retro Running Series medal. There is also the option to add a brightly-coloured technical T-shirt for each decade for an additional fee or by reaching a minimum fundraising target of £150.

Registration is open and the series runs until the end of March 2021. You can choose to run any distance (from 5K to marathon) and entry costs just £9 for a single decade (includes medal). If you would like to take on all five decades the fee is £30 (includes five medals plus the bonus series medal).

As a participant, you will become one of Roy's Runners and will be invited to join the highly supportive Roy's Runners Facebook community with 2,500-plus members. Your runs can be easily logged via Strava, Facebook, or simply email your running evidence to the organisers.

This series has been running since June 2020 but has been extended to the end of March 2021 due to its popularity and also to cover the latest lockdown period.

So step back in time, then step out to complete your runs and follow the steps to record your evidence and qualify for themed bling and the optional technical tops.
