The Ripon Round Ultra is a 35 mile trail race following a circular route from Studley Roger through the North Yorkshire countryside. The course follows the northern section of the Ripon Rowel, travelling through woodland, open moorland and the landscape of the Nidderdale National Landscape before returning to the village.
Runners face an undulating course designed to provide a substantial test of endurance over the ultra distance. Four checkpoints support the route, with the final miles bringing runners through the historic Studley Royal deer park before a downhill run towards the finish at Studley Roger. The mix of trails, woodland and moorland gives the race a varied character throughout its 35 miles.
The full route can be tackled solo or as a relay, with the relay divided into five sections between the start, checkpoints and finish. Competitors should be prepared for changing conditions and carry the required safety equipment, while a ten hour overall time limit and progressive checkpoint cut offs provide the framework for completing the course.
