Houston, We Have A Classic!
There's plenty to like about this classic Renfrewshire 10K...
The Rotary Club of Gryffe Valley 10K returns on 19 May and will once again offer runners a top notch community-supported event with on-point organisation and a famed post-race spread! You could call it the perfect spring 10K.
Always a charity affair, this year's race will be run in aid of local groups which support people (and their carers) who live with mental health illness and dementia.
Starting and finishing in Houston Park, the race will then head out on to the country roads around the villages of Houston, Kilmacolm and Bridge of Weir making it an extremely scenic course with marshalling and distance markers every 1K.
Organisers are keen to stress that this is a race for all abilities from serious runners to novices, although there is always a good contingent from local club Kilbarchan AAC. There is also a free 2K run in the park for kids in the afternoon and new for 2024, there will be 'chips on bibs' timing by Perfect Timing Scotland for all 10K runners.
We mentioned a great spread and that's exactly what it will be with sandwiches, home baking, tea and coffee all provided to runners and spectators at the end of the race. All in all, this sounds like a great local event that has plenty to offer someone looking for a springtime 10K.
