Run Rome The Marathon takes runners on a spectacular 42.195K road race through the historic heart of the Italian capital.

Starting on Via dei Fori Imperiali with the Colosseum behind the runners, the route passes some of Rome's most famous landmarks. These include Piazza Venezia, the Vittoriano, Circus Maximus, the Basilica of Saint Paul, Castel Sant'Angelo and St Peter's Basilica. Runners also experience long stretches beside the River Tiber before reaching Ponte Milvio, Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona.

The course combines ancient Rome with the modern city and provides an extraordinary sightseeing journey over the marathon distance. Electronic chip timing records official and net times, with intermediate splits also recorded around the course.

Registered marathon runners receive an official technical T shirt, race backpack and finisher medal. Thousands of international runners take part, creating a major city marathon atmosphere among some of the world's most recognisable historic landmarks.
