The Rhino Run is a six hour timed running challenge in Skellingthorpe, giving participants the freedom to complete anything from 5K to an ultra marathon within the event time limit. The flat out and back course follows a former railway line, creating a straightforward route where runners can concentrate on accumulating distance without the need for navigation.
Runners can choose their target as the event progresses, with dedicated options for 5K and 10K alongside Half Marathon, Marathon and Ultra Marathon distances. The main lap measures approximately 3.28 miles and is predominantly run on a tarmac path, with a short section across the playing field at the beginning and end of each lap. An aid table is available after each circuit, allowing runners to refuel regularly throughout the six hour challenge.
The event celebrates and raises awareness of rhino conservation, with part of the proceeds supporting the fundraising efforts associated with the cause. Its flexible format allows participants to approach the day with very different goals, from completing a shorter distance to continuing beyond marathon distance, with every finisher receiving a Rhino themed medal and goody bag.
