The Íslandsbanki Reykjavík Marathon is Iceland's largest running event, taking runners through the streets of Reykjavík on a certified road course. Starting in the city centre on Lækjargata, the event showcases the Icelandic capital with routes passing many of its best known landmarks, waterfront scenery and vibrant neighbourhoods.
Held annually in August, the event attracts runners from Iceland and around the world. Participants benefit from chip timing, pacers, well stocked on course support, finisher's medals and AIMS certified courses, while competition entries also receive official certification from the Icelandic Athletic Federation for qualifying purposes.
