The Rat Race 100, Bamburgh Castle to Edinburgh Castle, is organised by Rat Race and forms part of the Rat Race 100 Series. This point to point 100 mile ultramarathon takes runners and walkers from the Northumberland coast to the heart of Scotland's capital, offering an accessible long distance challenge with a generous completion window and no qualifying standards.
The fully waymarked route follows approximately 100 miles of coastal paths, trails, tracks and quiet roads between two of Britain's most iconic castles. Designed to be achievable for both experienced ultra runners and first time 100 mile participants, the course combines spectacular scenery with regular pit stops and comprehensive on course support throughout the journey.
The event is fully supported with staffed checkpoints, medical cover, bag transport, drop bag facilities and a sweeper service. Every finisher receives a bespoke medal, while completing all three events in the Rat Race 100 Series earns the coveted Rat Race Trilogy buckle, making this one of the UK's most distinctive endurance challenges.
